Gold-en Rules of Promoting Newsletter #24
***The 2 Key People You Need to Hire, NOW***
August 15, 2007

Hey Promoters,

I hope your summer has been relaxing or profitable...or BOTH!

With the summer coming to an end, it's time to get back to
business and focus on how to make more cash clubbing, throwing parties and promoting hot venues!

With my business, summer-time happens to be a very profitable
time of the year. (so I'm very sad summer is over) As I talk
about in my book, http://www.partypromoterguide.com/nlletter.html
I promote parties at nightclubs out in the Hampton's on Long Island during the summers. It's an upscale area where many of my clients spend their summer weekends so it's the perfect chance for me to move my business to the beach while I continue to bring in money.

But for some nightclub promoters, the summertime is slower (people are away, went home from school, etc) and the fall is their "busy season".

If this sounds like you, or you're just starting out in the
business, then now is a great time to staff up with the right
people so that you are running at full speed when your busy
season starts!

Lots of people, especially those starting out, think it's
easier to just do everything yourself...I was like this too,
so I know the feeling!

But over the years, I found that hiring people or out sourcing
work gave me a chance to do other things to grow my business.

Why spend hours standing on a street corner handing out passes
when you can get people to do it for you?

...isn't your time better spent doing other things to make sure
your party runs smoothly??

I know it can be intimidating to "hire" someone because you
A) don't want to pay them
or
B) don't know who to hire

So, without writing too much (so you can go back and enjoy what's left of the summer) here is a quick guide to:

The 2 Key people you need working for you, NOW....

1) List Builders:
These are the people that go around your party and collect
the names, emails, and other information about your clients.

This list is key to your business (it will help you fill venues,
get other gigs, and create other business ventures) so you
need to have someone collecting this information from day 1.

This is something that should be done at every single party
you are ever involved in, now matter what level of involvement
you have.

Many party promoters start off doing this, then they have some
success and this is the first thing they stop doing...eventually
their parties will fizzle out and they'll have no clientele to
contact about their events.

DON'T LET THIS BE YOU....

Make sure you have a list builder there starting from your first
party on.

(I find this so important that I personally have done this job
when my list builder bailed on me last minute and I couldn't get
anyone to do it...I didn't want to miss out on all those names,
so I grabbed a clipboard and did it myself!)

*** How Much? ***
Good news, this job doesn't have to be someone that you pay
since you don't have to be a trained professional...it can
be a friend (hopefully someone attractive or outgoing) or
one of your co-workers.

If you can't get a friend then maybe you could find someone and
offer the person free admission to all your parties if they do
the list one time per week. That won't cost you a penny yet they
don't feel like they are working for free.

2) Photographer:
I'm a big believer in posting lots and lots of pictures on my
website. People love to see pictures of themselves and their
friends online. When their picture is posted on a website,
people almost feel "famous".

Having lots of pictures on my site has always allowed me to
get lots of traffic to my site just by people wanting to see
the pictures from that night before.

While they are there, they can sign up for my guest list,
learn about my other parties, buy tickets to upcoming events, etc.

It's a win-win!

Also, when you have a photographer going around your party,
it makes people think it's a more VIP party. They see people
getting their picture taken and they associate it with paparazzi
and famous people...so they feel more VIP and that makes them
want to tell their friends and come to your next party.
(try it out and see for yourself)

You could have the photographer hand out cards to the people
saying "if you want to view the pictures from tonight, go to
abcwebsite". This way people have a way to find their
pictures (and your site) easily.

*** How Much? ***
When I first hired a photographer I got a guy in my college
to help me out free. He was into photography and wanted pictures for his portfolio and I needed some help at my parties, so I got him to help me out for nothing. (hopefully you realize by now that I prefer to "hire" people without actually paying them---
and if I have to "pay" them, I try not to use my actual money)

Try checking out craigslist to see if you can find people willing
to come party at a nightclub all night, and take pictures of beautiful
people, in exchange for giving you copies of the pictures for
your site!

NOTE:
There are plenty of other people that you can, and will need to,
hire down the road to help you take your business to a whole
other level.

business, then I would suggest focusing on the 2 KEY people...
